5 Tips for Keeping Your Home Office Cool in Summer

5 Tips for Keeping Your Home Office Cool in Summer

April 27, 2023

The Philippines has always been famous—or infamous!—for hot summer weather, and the record-breaking temperatures of recent years can send even the most sun-loving people scurrying for cover. Extreme heat can leave you feeling exhausted, uncomfortable, and unable to focus, which are probably among the worst things to feel on a busy workday. And with more people working from home, it’s become especially important to carve out a cool, comfortable workspace for yourself during the summer months.

Whether you’re working out of a dedicated home office, your bedroom, or another part of your house, the following tips can help you stay cool:

nest thermometer

Invest in Energy-Efficient Air Conditioning

Air conditioners have long been considered an almost essential appliance for Filipinos, which is perhaps no surprise given how sweltering our summers can get. Many Pinoys who can afford aircon at home will no doubt run to turn the dials on their AC units all the way up once temperatures start climbing. And while there’s nothing like an aircon for providing you with the deep coolness you crave on a hot day, running it for a long time—and especially for days at a time—is also a surefire way to send your electric bill through the roof.

If the heat inside your home is intense enough to affect your focus and productivity, then your best option is to invest in an energy-saving AC unit to keep your electric bills manageable. An inverter-type air conditioner, for example, is built to automatically adjust its compressor speed once the room has reached the desired temperature. While non-inverter aircons will continue to work just as hard in an already-cool room unless you power them down manually, an inverter aircon will slow down its compressor on its own and thus reduce its power consumption. In the long run, this helpful function can help you cut energy costs by a significant amount. Reach out to AC installation who can provide further advice and help you install an energy-efficient aircon in your home. Having the perfect unit for your home office will keep you comfortable and productive during the hot summer months.

While inverter AC units may often cost a bit more upfront than traditional, non-inverter aircons, the hefty energy savings they’ll earn you will offset the expense before too long. Plus, you can always buy window type inverter aircon online from a reputable seller in order to secure a competitive price. As long as you purchase your new aircon from the right store, you’ll definitely be able to enjoy fast and energy-efficient cooling without breaking the bank.

Bring in Fans

In addition to a good AC unit, functional electric fans are a must for making it through a Pinoy summer. A ceiling fan is the best possible option for reaching every inch of your room, but a large, oscillating tower fan can work just as well. Fans also provide some soothing white noise that can help you stay calm and focused during the workday.

Unplug Any Inactive Electronics

Computers, televisions, printers, and other electronic devices generate heat and raise the ambient temperature in your home office. The more of these devices you have on at once, the hotter your workspace is going to get. Plus, if you’re running the AC with all these devices on, then your aircon will have to work even harder to cool your room to a comfortable level. Factor in the cost of keeping all those electronics on in the first place, and you could be looking at a hefty electric bill at the end of each month.

Turning off any unnecessary electronics helps you both save energy and keep your home office cool. Furthermore, it’s better if you shut them off at the power source rather than simply hitting the off button on each one. For instance, if you have multiple devices plugged into a power strip, then simply turn off or unplug the whole strip to take care of the problem.

Adjust Your Schedule and Location When Possible

home interior

One of the best things about working remotely is that you can switch up where and sometimes even when you work according to your needs. If your usual workstation gets uncomfortably warm during the summer, for example, you can always move your computer to a darker, shadier spot during the hottest parts of the day. You might even want to take your work outside on breezier days to take advantage of the fresh air.

If you have control over your work hours, you may want to apply the “siesta principle” during the summer. This means scheduling the bulk of your tasks during the cooler hours of the morning and evening and avoiding work during the hottest parts of the day. That way, you can rest during the afternoon and go back to work feeling refreshed.

Stay Hydrated

Hydration is important for good health all year round, but it’s especially critical in summertime. Keep a big bottle of water or unsweetened tea on your desk and make sure to drink from it constantly throughout the day.

Another little-known hydration tip that might seem a bit strange at first is to skip the ice. Though iced drinks feel great in the moment, your body will need to work hard to warm up the cold liquid once it enters your system. This process, known as temperature compensation, will only use up more of the precious energy you could be spending on other tasks. Skip the iced drinks in favor of lukewarm tea or moderately chilled water.

Apply the tips above to your own workspace, and you won’t have to dread the coming of the hot months. And once you’ve taken steps to summer-proof your home office, you’ll be able to feel and work your best even as temperatures outside start to soar.

Keeping Cool - How Office Temperature Impacts Performance, Morale, and Efficiency

April 17, 2023

Have you considered how the temperature of your office impacts your employees’ performance, morale, and efficiency? If you haven’t, it’s about time you did. Multiple studies demonstrate how much office temperature can affect workers’ output.

 office layout

Temperatures That Are Too Hot Can Affect Employee Productivity and Morale

It makes sense that when office employees are too hot, they can become lethargic and agitated. Moods can easily shift when working in environments that are too warm. In turn, that can affect productivity, morale, and performance.

According to a study by researchers at the University of Chicago, who looked at the impact that temperature had on employee production and absenteeism in India, productivity drops up to 4% when workplace environments rise above 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

So, by simply making offices cooler, by using air conditioners or fans, employers can ensure productivity levels don’t drop and employees remain focused and in good spirits.

Temperatures That Are Too Cold Can Affect Employee Productivity and Morale

A study by CareerBuilder came to a similar conclusion: workplaces that are too hot affect productivity. The study found that 22% of workers in the U.S. claimed workplaces that are too hot make it difficult to concentrate on tasks.

But it’s not only offices that have high temperatures that are problematic. 11% of workers in the CareerBuilder study said workplaces that were too cold also affected their concentration levels. And with a reduction in focus, productivity, efficiency, and morale is sure to suffer.

A study by Cornell University found that cold workers are more likely to make errors, too, which is sure to result in inefficiency and low productivity.

According to the Cornell University study, typists reduced their mistakes by 44% and increased their output by an incredible 150% when their offices rose in temperature from 68 degrees Fahrenheit to 77 degrees Fahrenheit.

A study by researchers at the Helsinki University of Technology found exactly the same: workplace performance increases when office temperatures are at 71.6 degrees Fahrenheit.

The Happy Medium

Looking at the various studies on how temperature affects employees’ performance, morale, and efficiency, it’s easy to see that offices with temperatures in the 70s are ideal for maintaining high productivity levels.

 office performance

Above 80 degrees can create lethargy, poor performance, and errors, as can temperatures in the sixties and below. So, it’s important that employers take note and consistently keep their offices at a happy medium temperature.

By getting the temperature of your office just right, you can maximize efficiency, reduce employee turnover, and retain your top talent. So, if you haven’t actively considered the ideal temperature for your workplace, it’s high time you did.

Make Sure Your HVAC Systems Are in Excellent Working Order

To ensure your office is kept at an ideal temperature, you need to ensure your heating and cooling equipment is in good working order.

Therefore, you should perform regular maintenance checks to make certain everything is working correctly and get a professional to service your equipment on a regular basis.

If you don’t, you could find your HVAC systems fail, and that could cause extreme temperatures in the office. And extreme drops or rises in temperature will affect employee performance, morale, and efficiency much more than slight decreases or increases in temperature.

If your HVAC systems do fail and need repairing, make sure you call reputable air conditioning and furnace repair technicians as soon as possible so that you can get the problem sorted quickly and return to excellent productivity levels.

Luckily, if you are in Washington you can find trusted HVAC services in Parkland to help you with any HVAC issues. Still, it’s always best to prevent these issues in the first place by regular maintenance checks.

Investing in professional HVAC Installation and repair services may seem costly, but it can save you a lot of headaches (and money) in the long run. Still, it’s always best to prevent these issues in the first place by regular maintenance checks.

The Takeaway

Ebenezer Scrooge may have thought of himself as a shrewd businessman when he refused Bob Cratchit’s request to put more coal on the fire, as he immediately thought about the cost of the coal.

But he didn’t stop to consider that his employee could have improved his performance and productivity if he had been warmer. So, don’t make the same mistake as Scrooge.

Workplaces that are too cold or too hot can significantly affect employee performance, morale, and efficiency.

Make sure you adapt the temperature of your office to ensure it is at the optimum temperature for the particular season. Your employees can then give their undivided attention to the tasks they’re performing.

And if you’re planning to renovate your office, make sure systems for controlling the office temperature are included in your plan.

7 Tips for Office Renovation Success

February 20, 2023

Are you considering an office renovation? Whether you're wanting to update your space to be more modern or simply make it more functional, there are a few key things to keep in mind for success. Follow these seven tips and your office renovation is sure to be a success

office space design

Define your goals for the renovation

Renovations are about more than just a fresh coat of paint and a few more people to fit in the room--they provide an opportunity to define the kind of work experience you want your team to have. Before diving into any office renovation, it’s important to be explicit about what you hope to achieve with the changes; set specific, measurable goals for how much time and money you’re investing in this process. Make sure that these objectives tie back in with why your team exists: if productivity is the number one goal, plan out how space and resources can enable better collaboration. Aim big but tackle realistically--you can always reassess your goals as the project progresses.

Get rid of junk you don't need

To make your office renovation a success, it is important to take the time to get rid of stuff that you no longer need and that has been cluttering up the workspace. To make this task easier, create three piles—one for items that you need or want to keep; one for items that can be repurposed or donated; and another one for garbage. Make sure you put yourself in the shoes of someone who has never seen these items before and ask yourself honestly whether they're worth keeping. Once you’ve gone through everything, tossing whatever doesn’t serve any real purpose, you will have opened up significant space for new stuff and improved workflow efficiency. As the folks behind Virginia Beach Bin There Dump That note, you can even get a dumpster rental to make this task easier! Keep in mind that it’s also important to document what you have thrown out.

Create a budget and stick to it

Before deciding to renovate your office, it’s essential to create a budget and stick with it. Do your research: identify costs for materials, labor, furniture, and other expenses. Revenues might be tight when you’re running a business, so make sure the allocated funds are realistic. Think of short and long-term gains that will benefit the office space. It’s easy to become overwhelmed trying to juggle different financial options and expenses but having a budget in place helps to reduce stress and maximize efficiency during renovation. Focus on what needs to be done in order for the goal of creating an ideal office space to be met without breaking the bank.

Hire a reputable contractor

When planning an office renovation, it’s important to hire a reputable contractor that you can trust. A good contractor has experience in the field and should be knowledgeable about the latest tools and techniques used in office renovations. Working with a contractor who is reliable and can deliver quality results at the desired timeline will save you a lot of stress – and money – during the process. If you are unsure, asking for references and checking out reviews online is a great way to research contractors before making your selection.

Make sure to communicate your vision for the renovation

When it comes to office renovations, communicating your vision for the space is the first and most important step. You'll want to make sure everyone from stakeholders to contractors understands your goal for the end result. This means setting clear, measurable expectations and outlining a timeline. During this process, you should also be open to dialog and collaboration that may push the boundaries of your original plans. By making sure everyone involved with the project has a shared understanding of what's expected of them, you can help ensure that your office renovation will be successful.

Have a plan for dealing with disruptions

When renovating your office space, it is important to plan ahead for any potential disruptions that your employees may experience. Disruptions can range from simply an increased level of noise, to a more serious disruption caused by construction falling behind schedule and contractors having to work late nights. Talk openly with all involved in the renovation process to make sure you know what’s going on, and how long each phase should take, and create a contingency plan if something does go wrong. Make sure everyone knows the plan for addressing any issues that arise before the renovation begins. By planning ahead, you can easily avoid potentially problematic disruptions, allowing your employees to stay focused on their work and limiting the frustration of your workforce during this period of transition.

Take some time to assess how well it meets your needs

It is important to take the time to assess your needs. Ask yourself–will this help our company become more efficient? Is this layout compatible with our processes? Taking the time beforehand allows you to make the most of the budget for your office renovation and hone in on what will create the optimal working environment for you and your staff. If a certain layout won’t help make your workplace more conducive to productivity, consider an alternative before investing in costly changes. It pays to take a step back and evaluate how well a renovation plan can meet your needs.

office startup

A successful office renovation can be rewarding and make for a much more enjoyable workspace. All you need is to plan ahead, consider your overall goals, and stay organized throughout the entire process. By following these 7 tips for office renovation success, organizational leaders should have no problem completing their project without breaking the bank or falling behind on deadlines.

How to Create a Photo Wall of Past Board Members for your Association

November 02, 2022

board meeting

Associations and nonprofits play a very important role in the world and have several important functions. The board members of an association or non-profit are often what makes it great. They are important in making sure it runs correctly, is involved in doing the right things and so much more.

Board members come and go, but each and every one of them has an important role in the success of the association. As a result, commemorating them is the least you can do. One of the best ways to show off and recognize your board members is by creating a photo wall. But how do you go about doing so to make sure it is as high-quality as possible?

Without any further ado, this blog post is going to go over some great tips to great a photo wall of your past board members.

Get Board Member Approval Before Including a Photo

photoshoot

While putting up a photo wall of all past members seems innocent enough, it isn’t something you should just go and do. You should be sure to ask them if they are okay with their photo being on the wall. Many people don’t like how they look in photos, and might not want a photo included on the wall. Of course, you should be sure to honor these wishes.

Also, allow them to choose the photo you use. You could even set it up for a new photo to be taken. If a person is going to be up on a photo wall for years, you want to make sure they are comfortable with the photo you have chosen.

Consider Getting Creative With it

While you could just put up all the photos on a wall and “technically” it’s a photo wall, this might be a little too boring or plain for some associations. If you want to take it to the next level, you could consider getting a little creative. For example, using a service like Instapainting will allow you to get brilliant, hand-made paintings of your former board members or a photo editor from adobe.

This will surely lead to a unique photo wall like no one has ever seen. Also, you can be sure your past board members will feel good about being immortalized and painted in this fashion. You have the freedom to choose how you want the photo wall to look, where it should reside, and how large it should be. So feel free to be as creative as you want with your photo wall.

Post the Photos in Order

While this is up to you, it’s a good idea to post the photos in order of when the individual served on the board. If someone served on the board from 1994-1996, it makes sense for their picture to be before someone who served from 2008-2011.The first photos should be the earliest board members, and going on down the line until the most recent past board members.

This will give anyone who views it a good look at your board members over the years. It will save them from having to jump from photo to photo to see who was a board member at which time. Another way you could do it is by name. However, that might be hard to keep up over time. Once it comes time to update the wall with new photos, a lot more will have to be done to move and shift them around.

Potentially Add Some Supplementary Information

Simply including photos and names of the previous board members is fine, but there is so much more you can do to honor them. You could include their professional experience, their interests, the contributions they have made or even a quote that is important to them

This will allow those viewing the photo wall, or even new board members, to learn and appreciate who came before them and what they were all about. Of course, if you have a ton of past board members, adding some information about them or quote from them

In conclusion, hopefully this article has been able to help you create a gorgeous and memorable photo wall for all past board members of your association.

Minimalist Design Ideas for a More Organized Workspace

September 16, 2022

People practice minimalism for a variety of reasons and in various areas of their lives. To create a productive and relaxing workspace, minimalists recommend only keeping the essential items. If you're trying to boost your productivity, try adopting some minimalist design principles.

This could include something as simple as rearranging your desk into a more functional layout. Having nothing to distract you from thinking or creating something new greatly benefits your creativity and will help you overcome any mental blocks you may be experiencing. This article will show you how to organize your workplace to help you get most work done with the least amount of work and money.

work desk

Get a Good Location

You must select a location that will help you achieve higher productivity. Allow the office to be away from the distractions of the home. You should also make sure that there is plenty of light in the room.

If you want to make the most of your minimalist office concept, you should get a large, well-lit office with a free desk near a window. Take precise measurements of the area to ensure you get the right-sized furniture. Your workspace should be located in a conducive environment in order to reduce distractions in the office.  When exploring office space rentals in your area , look for spaces with natural light, open layouts, and minimalist design elements. Depending on your job, you may also want to consider noise levels and the availability of quiet spaces for when you need to focus.

Chose Right Material

Even though the appearance, design, and cost of the furniture are important, the material plays a significant role. You can choose wooden furniture to give your workspace a natural look that complements the painting. Choose lightweight natural blending materials to allow air movement.

Keep the Workspace Organized

To achieve the minimalist design concept, pay close attention to organization. There are important office accessories that you should not overlook, no matter how minimalist the design is, especially if you are multitasking. In this case, a clustered workstation will provide you with everything you need to follow the minimalist rule for increased productivity.

People in Australia are increasingly adopting minimalist design. Professionals recommend designing with only relevant items to keep clutter to a bare minimum. The most important thing is to have enough storage space so that everything you use for work can be put away neatly when you're finished. If you work with multiple screens, get a desk that can hold the accessories and keep everything organized.

Choose the Correct Chair

Getting a chair that matches the desk is important and should not be overlooked. If you want to maintain good posture while working, you should get an adjustable chair with perfect middle and lower back support. Selecting a low-quality chair exposes you to posture disorders and back problems such as exhaustion, neck and back pain, and headaches. This will significantly reduce your productivity. Choose chairs that are best suited to your minimalist workspace concept.

Choose the Correct Desk

In an office, everything happens at the desk. Therefore, you should consider the simplest desk design to achieve minimalism. If you want a minimalist workspace design, don't get a large office desk with a cabinet and hutch. If storage allows, you can choose a floating workstation to declutter the workspace even further. Other desk ideas to consider are skinny desks and fold-out desks, which are space-saving. Choose a sturdy desk with plenty of storage space and a height that is comfortable for you.

Keep the Workspace Bright and Clean

When the office is well-lit, it will undoubtedly appear clean. Natural fresh air and lighting saturating the room provide a refreshing feeling. It's energizing and can instantly wake up your body to do your best at work. Set up the workstation near a window if you want to achieve the desired minimalist look. A simple brown desk and chair near a well-ventilated window will help you get the most work done.

Choose the Right Decoration

Décor is important in a room, particularly in a workspace, because it can inspire and refocus your attention when you are distracted. However, it is always important to keep your decor simple and clean. You can use motivational wall art, a photo of your favorite perfume, a cherished pet, a plant, or an inspirational quote. Use only things that will keep you focused, energized, productive, and in positive spirits.

minimalist office

A neat and tidy office is aesthetically pleasing and positively affects workers' morale and well-being. The mind perceives everything as being at war with each other when the office is cluttered and disorganized, even if nothing is actually moving.

Even if you think it's a waste of time and energy to put everything in its proper place and label your files, you'll be much happier with your work environment once you've done it. When you use minimalist design ideas to keep your workspace organized, you will see an increase in productivity among your employees, and there will be a lot of free space to move around.

8 Tips to Keep Your Office Clean Without Breaking a Sweat

July 05, 2022

When you think about your office, what's the first thing that comes to mind?

The biggest giant mess in the history of messes? An overabundance of food and beverages due to happy hour?A time-consuming mess that takes hours to clean up?

A cluttered space that makes you dread Monday mornings? Unfortunately, the answer to one or more of these questions is probably yes. There's no denying that an unorganized office can be a significant pain – both literally and figuratively. But there's good news! A messy office doesn't have to be a permanent state of affairs. Here are 10 ways to get your office back on track:

 office design

  1. Declare war on clutter

You may have heard that you have to keep your desk organized with both physical and psychological space in each area so that you can think clearly. We'd like to propose a bit different theory: declutter your office by getting rid of any item that is not serving a purpose. If you don't use something each day, why do you need it? If your mission statement is still in 2015, it's likely time to refresh it.

       2. Create a workspace

Having a clear workspace is the first step to ensuring your office is clean and organized. There's nothing worse than staring at an over-stuffed inbox, not sure where to start or an overflowing rubbish bin. Use your whiteboard to write a list of everything you need to accomplish and put it somewhere that you'll see it every day. Then, tackle one item each day.

  1. Put away your stuff.

It seems simple, but it is the most common mistake – people tend to leave their stuff lying around instead of putting it back in its proper place. Set up a system for putting everything away, whether baskets, boxes or containers. While you're at it, be sure to put labels on them, too, either to describe what they contain or their location. Label your drawers and your cabinets to avoid any unnecessary mess.

  1. Invite guests over.

Yes, weekly meetings are a pain, but they also make you face the music of clutter every Wednesday. Schedule them on your calendar so they're easy to remember. The next time you have a scheduled lunch or dinner at your desk, invite a friend to join in, so you have an excuse to head out and get some air.

     5.Hire a cleaning service.

Clean it up today; if your office looks like the epicentre of the zombie apocalypse, hiring companies like Oui Clean DMV Washington DC will help you reclaim your workspace — and your sanity. They handle everything from vacuuming to wiping down counters to sanitizing floors and most only cost $59–$125 per visit. Plus, you can schedule weekly or biweekly visits that leave you more time to work and less time to clean

*Tip: After you've had a good clean, get your staff to clear everything away from their desks into drawers, cabinets and filing trays. Then, the next day, have them put everything straight back on the desk in the same place, ready for you to attack it all over again. This is one of the reasons that many of us dislike cleaning – it takes up so much damn time. If all you do is sweep and mop, the place won't look much better than when you started.

  1. Gather all the trash in one place.

If your office is a little messy, you're not alone. According to Ouicleandmv Group, a Washington DC-based cleaning company, 70 per cent of businesses surveyed admitted they had problems with clutter. And it doesn't take long for that clutter to add up — trash, food particles, paper scraps and more can begin to line hallways and work surfaces throughout the workday. A simple way to create more space is to put all that litter in one spot — preferably a wastebasket — so it's easier to dispose of when the end of the day rolls around.

  1. Get a green mindset.

Say goodbye to paper towel waste by using reusable cleaning cloths tossed in with laundry after use. Reusable cleaning cloths also eliminate waste by not being thrown away after each use. Use a green dusting method to dust bookshelves, frames, headboards, and other wooden furniture pieces by using a feather duster instead of a cotton dusting cloth or Swiffer duster. Feather dusters leave less residue and are more eco-friendly than traditional dusting cloths and Swiffer dusters.

office decor
  1. Invest in smart furniture.                                                                               If you are renting your office space or working in a co-working arrangement, the quality of the furniture is one of the best ways to make it feel more like your own space. Investing in comfortable, good-looking furniture will also help you get more done. The best way to ensure comfort is by investing in good ergonomic chairs and ensuring the surface you work on is at the correct height. It's worth remembering that your staff are far more productive when comfortable.

  1. Turn on a light!

Installing under-cabinet lighting in your kitchen or hallway is the easiest way to keep those spaces clean without breaking a sweat. By flipping a switch, you can immediately see where you need to focus your efforts. And if you're not feeling particularly motivated, the blaring light trick might do the trick.

  1. Use your company's assets to shine your office

Use your office's assets to make sure your office is super clean without breaking a sweat. If you have a cleaning crew, take advantage of their assets like mops, an air filter and an air purifier. If you don't have a cleaning crew, use what you already pay for to ensure your office is clean and germ-free.

  1. Finally, adopt a "clean as you go" policy.

When you see trash and debris in your office, be proactive about picking it up during your day. If you arrive at your desk and see trash on the floor, then go ahead and pick it up, but don't let the cleaning wait until the end of the day. You'll have less to do at the end of the day when staff arrives to clean if you are diligent about keeping things clean throughout the day.

Planning A Corporate Event In 2022: The Ultimate Guide

April 20, 2022

Corporate events have remained a favorite marketing tool for many brands and small businesses. Traditional businesses still use them, even if it's just festive parties, to generate sales, brand identity, and establish a rapport with customers. However, corporate functions come with a long checklist of things you need to do when organizing an event. These items include booking a venue, ordering flowers and other decorations, planning the schedule for each session, and much more.

When planning a corporate event, you need to prepare early enough and prepare your team. This guide includes all you'll need to know about how to start preparing for a successful corporate event. You can find tips for getting started and information on where you should be focusing your efforts below:

campaign budget
Create A Budget

Perhaps, the critical part of planning a corporate event is to set a realistic budget. Doing so allows you to have a guide when making decisions. It can act as an outline as you nail down the specifics of your corporate event.

For instance, how many guests and attendees are you planning to accommodate? What kind of food are you going to serve the guests? Are you going to book a big function room, or will the office conference room suffice? And as such, having the budget in mind allows you to plan the corporate event in such a way that you won’t go overboard when sorting out event details such as decoration, corporate gifts, and more.

While it’d be good to note that some companies have allotted a budget for corporate events, to be on the safe side, consider getting the input of other members of the team. You could sit down with the HR and finance team, perhaps.

Once you have a budget, you can plan other things knowing you won't fall short in finances.

Determine Venue And Date

Another essential tip when planning your corporate event is to finalize the date and lock in the venue early. And while corporate events can be held in different places, your venue depends on the scale and budget of the event.

But aside from budget, when choosing an appropriate venue, keep in mind its size and location. The venue you choose must be well-connected and convenient for the attendees to access and go to. You’ll also want to consider what type of amenities or activities this venue offers so that attendees can enjoy themselves once they arrive.

When planning your corporate event, prioritize booking your venue to minimize any issues. Furthermore, determining the venue and date of the event early has many benefits, such as:

  • Better Pricing: The sooner you book an event space, the more likely you will be able to lock in a lower price for the room rental fee and catering costs.
  • More Availability: The longer you wait to book your event space, the less likely your preferred venue will be available on your desired date.
  • More Time To Plan: The longer you wait to book your event space, the less time remains for planning activities such as developing a menu, and ordering party favors and decorations.

Plan For Entertainment

Entertainment is all too often an afterthought when planning a corporate event. In some cases, companies try to hire an act last minute to fill a time slot. However, you should put some thought into the entertainment, too, since you can use it as a way to tie the whole theme of your event together.

To start, think about what sort of entertainment would be appropriate for your audience. For example, if you have an older audience and a lot of people who have been around for the long haul, you might want to hire an old-school band or some other type of classical music that will resonate with them.

You can also get creative with your entertainment and have events such as live screen printing to help draw attention and offer people a rewarding experience. When people leave the event with t-shirts, they'll hold the memories for so long.

corporate event
Make Sure You Have Enough Staff

Planning your corporate event also involves ensuring that your event is well-covered. For that reason, some companies opt for hiring event coordinators to manage the event on the day itself. And in most cases, the services of event planners and coordinators include the coordination of various events staff, such as the following:

  • Security Personnel: They keep everyone safe and ensure that your event venue is monitored and has proper surveillance.
  • Catering Staff: They prepare and serve food and beverages and cleanup to clear away tables at the end of the event. Caterers can help with bar staffing too.
  • Registration Staff: They are in charge of ticket sales and guest lists. Parking attendants may also be necessary if your guests drive to your event venue.
  • Photographers or Videographers: Hiring one enables you to capture memories from the event day so that you can share them on social media after your event or use them in marketing material later on in the year during other events such as trade shows.

If the budget permits, hiring an event coordinator could be an ideal option for you. However, if not, you can always assign team members to help in overseeing the event.

Inform People Prior

Now that you have sorted out and finalized the details of your corporate event, it’s time to inform people about it.

It’s always a good idea to send an e-mail blast or post announcements about the event as far in advance as possible. That way, your employees and other attendees can add it to their calendars and make sure that there’s nothing else planned for the same day. If you want them to invite guests or family members, it’s also a good idea to let them know so that they can RSVP on behalf of everyone who wants to attend. Remember to include what time the event starts and whether you need an RSVP from each person.

In addition to letting people know the date and time well in advance, you should also mention what type of event it is and what type of dress code there will be. There's nothing worse than getting excited about going out somewhere only to find out at the last minute that you don't have anything appropriate to wear.

Wrapping Up

Planning a corporate event can be challenging and overwhelming, but it’s not impossible. Yes, it may take a lot of time and effort, but it is worth it. For one, it allows you to connect and engage with potential clients and even your own workforce, which can help solidify your brand and generate more leads.

Consider the tips and insights presented in this article to help you plan your corporate event this year.

How To Choose The Perfect Gift For Your Coworker

February 15, 2022

We've all been there. It's the holiday season and you're searching for the perfect gift for your coworker. Maybe it's a Secret Santa or maybe you just want to surprise someone with something special. There are so many options out there when it comes to what type of gift to get, but don't worry, we're here to help!

It can be hard to shop for a coworker. You want to give them something thoughtful, but you don't want to overstep any boundaries and get them something too personal or weird. Here are some tips on how you can find the perfect gift for your coworker.

coworkers

What is The Occasion?

It’s more than just finding a gift that’s right for your budget. It’s also about considering the occasion when buying the perfect gift for your coworker. How do you know what to get someone who is celebrating their 6th anniversary? Or how do you pick out a gift for your boss on Boss’s Day? Maybe you need ideas for last-minute going away gifts, and you just can't think of the right thing to get to make that coworker remember you. Or maybe you're just looking for a gift that's a little more unique than the usual "Happy Birthday" card.

It may not be easy to shop for the perfect gift, but it’s worth it. Especially because gifts are something that makes an impression on people. They show that you care about another person and that you took time out of your busy schedule.

Gift-giving is tricky. You want to show you care, but you don't want to be too extravagant. You also don't want to give something that they already have or would never use. It can be a stressful situation to find the perfect gift, especially when it's for someone in the office.

Buy Something You Can Afford

Buying gifts is stressful. Often, we end up buying something nice for a coworker, only to have them tell us that they got the same thing for someone else. It’s like spending $50 on a gift card and receiving nothing in return.

The secret to buying gifts for coworkers is to buy things you can afford. Rather than splurge and feel like you wasted money, find something on the lower end of the spectrum. If you can’t afford a new iPad, don’t give one as a gift. Instead, give them some other useful gift they will appreciate.

Some ideas for cheap gifts include:

  • A coffee mug with their name on it

  • A nice pen or other office supply item (stamps, notebooks, customized marble business cards etc.)

  • A nice candle or scented oil

Christmas Gift

Consider Their Personality

When you need to buy a gift for your coworker, you may not be familiar with their likes or dislikes. You can ask them or look at their personal belongings and then decide. But if that time is limited, you should know what kind of gift will make them happy.

First, consider your coworker’s personality. Do they like funny things? If they don’t like funny things, why do you want to give them a fun gift? To win their favor? If so, it will not work. Some people love funny things and some don’t. The important thing is to find out if they like them.   For example, if they like going out, then some live music experiences might be perfect. Orange County businesspeople often look into the best Orlando concerts coming soon when they're trying to find the perfect gift for their colleagues. This experience will create memories, and you will always remembered for that.

Second, consider their age. It’s easy to give a gift to a young person, but what about an older one? If you are buying a gift for someone much older than you, you should probably ask them what they want.

Third, consider their interests. If your coworker likes sports, get them a sports-related gift. If they like books, get them a book-related gift. If they like funny things, get them a funny gift.

Decoding a colleague's personality enables selecting the perfect flower for their unique style. For instance, sunflowers are ideal for energetic colleagues, while lavender roses are suitable for calm ones. Showing appreciation and value with a thoughtful flower gift is a thoughtful gesture. You can check different websites to find the perfect flower for your colleague that matches their personality.

What’s The Best Thing About Working with Them?

Do you have a coworker who always seems to be in a good mood? Maybe they’re always willing to help out or offer advice and support. Maybe they’re just an all-around fun person to be around. Whatever it is, you want to do something nice for them. So, what should you get?

A lot of people think that the best present for their coworker is a gift card or something from their favorite store. This is a good way to go if you aren’t sure what else to do. But if you want to do something a little more personal, you can try to find a gift that reflects your coworker’s personality.

For example, if they are into video games, maybe you could get them a new game or some new gaming accessories. If they are into music, you could get them some concert tickets or a CD of their favorite band.

If your coworker is into movies, you could get them a movie ticket or some movie-related merchandise.

There are many factors to consider when choosing the perfect gift for your coworker. By taking into account their tastes, interests, and hobbies, you can find a great gift that will be appreciated for years to come.

Leaving A Lasting Impression Through Corporate Gifts

If you ever wondered whether giving valued clients a corporate gift is a good idea, the answer is a resounding “Yes!” According to recent surveys, about 62% of companies give gifts, with attractiveness, durability, and utility topping the list of considerations when it comes to making the perfect selection. Showing you value your client in the new millennium is about much more than a traditional gourmet basket these days. Quality rather than quantity is key, as is giving stylish presents that reflect the individual tastes of your client. If you aren't certain, there are companies like Lapach to provide luxury gift sets that fits into your budget as well.

New materials rock

Around 840 million people across the globe use a tablet at least once a month, and your client is probably one of them. Smartphones are huge in as well, with a vast majority of adults owning their own phone and using it to make purchases and research.

Instead of the usual food basket or bottle of wine, wouldn’t you rather have a tablet or phone protector in a new material such as marble? This material exemplifies elegance and luxury and comes in various colors and styles, each of which dates back centuries. It speaks of tradition and novelty all at once - values that a discerning client will probably relate to very well.

Gifts can be fashionable

Finding the perfect gift involves putting yourself in your client’s shoes. If you know a female client has loads of evening events and soirees, for instance,

what gift could be more perfect than a designer handbag or clutch bag, made in an exclusive material such as stone?
Marble Clutch Bag

Men who love trendy ties or glasses, meanwhile, will enjoy receiving a trendy gent’s box, which can include items such as designer shades, a beautiful tie or uber trendy socks; if you want to go all out, why not add a watch into the equation?

Surveys show that a man’s wardrobe can dramatically impact his self-confidence, career, and love life, so why not give a treasured client a hand in these departments? Another lovely gift is a personal accessory such as an agate bracelet - as colorful as it is elegant, a nice way for business professionals to show they celebrate life and nature immensely outside a work setting.

Make it about your client

Surveys show that items that have made it to employees’ ‘Worst Presents’ list include cheap pens, bad wine, cheap trophies, and gadgets that don’t work. Branded items are okay, so long as they have a real use. Forego cheap items, as well; they tend to make your client feel that you don’t value them.

Giving a corporate gift is about selflessly saying “Thank you” to clients and cherishing the professional relationship you may have built over many years. You don’t need to break your budget to send select clients a designer item, or one that clearly shows you are in tune with their taste and style.  Try to show your appreciation year-round, when they least expect it. This will help your company stand out and make it feel more like you are giving from the heart, not because you are expected to.

5 reasons to keep a journal - MIKOL

5 reasons to keep a journal

July 10, 2020

Marble Notebook Journal

Many of you must think that journaling is outdated. It is so much easier to jot down notes on your iPhone or laptop.  And it is easier! But there are many hidden benefits to journaling.  Often times I'll type the notes into my iPhone first so I don't forget, and then transfer the longer message into my journal.

Many artists, writers, influential personalities and world leaders all have the habits of keeping a journal.  These top leaders meticulously maintain a detailed account of their thoughts, feelings or just day to day.

But why?

Here are 5 reasons why it is good for us to keep a journal:

Clarity

1.  Clarity

Writing helps declutter your thoughts and can help you properly organize them together. Remember in English class as a child, your teacher would tell you to jot down bullet points and body paragraph structure to write out your paper? It's because our brain processes too much information. And also we live in an information overload world now with technology.  This method allows your brain to focus on the topic you need at the moment and free up some mental space to think more clearly.

Writing about your thoughts and feelings freely really puts things into perspective when you look at it rather than just trying to process everything in your head. It also improves focus and improves your creativity. We have another section about creative journaling tips to capture your best thoughts and ideas if you would like to learn more.

Taking Notes

2. Self-Improvement

Journaling can help track your growth, whether it's personal, work, or spiritually.  Psychologically when you physically jot down something and refer to it time to time, it ingrains into your mind much faster than typing it out.  Think about when you're texting a friend and having a conversation. It's so much easier to do, but also so much easier to forget.  Writing takes more effort, which allows your brain to really process.

And as you regularly write down these emotions or experiences, it builds up the good habits as well a great reference to look back and assess your goals. Are you on track? What has changed now, a month or a year ago? Do you see any behavioral patterns? Maybe there is negativity in your life you need to avoid? Or maybe life is great, and you have all these achievements, positive growth that can elevate your mood and self-esteem even more.

Learn about yourself through journaling and figure out what is the best version of yourself.

3. Improve your memory and problem-solving skills

As mentioned earlier, writing in your journal can help declutter your mind, free up mental space to tackle the problems required.  Also, listing out the problems, allows your brain to process clearly each issue you need to overcome. Regular journaling engages the creative side of the brain to help think of clever solutions to your problem. In the Journal of Experimental Psychology's research, they talked about how expressive writing reduces intrusive thoughts about negative events and improves working memory.

De-stress

4. De-Stress

There have been several studies on how journaling can help people cope with stress and anxiety.

A study from the journal Advances in Psychiatric Treatment is a great experiment and summary of how counselors, social workers, and therapists often use writing exercises to help patients deal with traumatic, stressful or emotional events. It's as simple as 15~20 minutes on 3 ~ 5 occasions was enough to help these patients.

In fact, this practice is so regarded that there's a Center for Journal Therapy dedicated to the mental health benefits of regular journaling, both in therapeutic and personal settings.

In short, it's about how you write, about how you tell your personal story.

5. It's Fun!

This is your personal safe haven to be completely yourself! Have fun! Show your true personality.  Most of us suppress a little of who we are because of societal norms. We are trained to be "responsible" to be an "adult", but does that make us happy? Writing your thoughts, your feelings, who you are in your notebook is safe. It is only for your eyes to see. Discover who you really are! Pour your heart out, then go back and read what kind of person you are. It's important to learn about yourself. You can listen to friends and family about what you need to do, who you need to be. But only you know what true happiness is for you.

If you need help discovering your happiness, consider reaching out to a therapist at BetterHelp.

 Carrara White Notebook Journal

What do you think? Are you ready to finally start a journal?

First is to pick out a proper notebook to start your journal entry.  You need to find a notebook that will motivate you to want to write in it daily. Are you driven by the design of the notebook? Novelty? Type of paper is used? That is something you need to decide.

Next step is to build up those good habits of writing. Start with 10 minutes every day of simple writing. No one is reading this but you, so just start write down whatever comes to mind!

Lastly, find a time in the day you know you are free and can consistently allow 10 minutes every day to write in your new notebook journal.

Good luck on your journey, and hope this helps you find or write your way to happiness!
