Everyone gets so caught up in the fun part of an office renovation when they’re focusing on a renovation success. Which, sure, it makes total sense. Usually, it’s the mood boards, the Pinterest scrolling, the color scheme, yeah, those things. Needless to say, it’s all fun and exciting, right? New desks, stylish chairs, better lighting, maybe even that espresso machine the team keeps joking about buying. But once the excitement settles and the quotes start rolling in, reality hits hard. Yeah, it’s that nasty reality check, isn’t it?

Well, office renovations aren’t just about picking pretty furniture. Sure, that’s the fun part, but it’s not the most important aspect, though. Honestly, there’s a whole world of practical stuff hiding underneath that design mood board, and that’s where things start getting, well, complicated. Alright, then what’s the not-so-glamorous side that you still need to look into?
Sure, it’s easy to dream up open-concept spaces and bright, airy setups until you realize the copier’s fifty feet from anyone who needs it, or the fridge door blocks the walkway every time someone opens it. Yeah, not much thought seemed to go into these, right? But that’s the problem here, and yes, these sorts of things are common too. It’s all about having a good layout, and yes, it’s absolutely needed.
So, think of these questions first. Where do people gather? Where do they walk the most? Is there enough space for chairs to pull out without bumping into someone else? Oh yeah, you’d honestly be amazed at how many businesses only think about this after everything’s installed. But seriously, here, function first, style second.
Yes, this is definitely the least fun aspect of them all; there’s absolutely no denying this, but you also can’t deny the sheer importance, either, though. Oh, don’t forget about HVAC either; that’s also an important one. But yeah, all that invisible stuff that’s quietly holding the entire renovation together.
Well, they hold the whole entire office together if you really think about it. So, if you’re adding a kitchenette, moving restrooms, or just relocating the water cooler, plumbing becomes a big deal fast, meaning you’ll need to get a reliable plumbing company such as Bluefrog Plumbing to help out. Actually, the same goes for power, like new lighting means new wiring. Well, that, and more screens mean more outlets. It’s all connected.
You’d think things like light placement or where the air vent blows wouldn’t matter much, but oh, they do. No, really, like one badly placed vent and half your team is freezing while the other half’s melting. Well, that, and there’s never enough outlets, it’s too cold, there’s an echo, and yeah, this list could go on forever. The smallest oversights are always the ones that end up annoying everyone the most. So yeah, details matter. Well, more than anyone wants to admit.
Well, as it should, of course. Yeah, now by all means it absolutely is fine to have fun with this part, but it absolutely needs to come last. Make sure the boring stuff is budgeted and done first, and then all the fun stuff last.
