Will Digital Business Cards Really Benefit Your Business?

Why Use Business Cards

It's a customary act of quickly exchanging information between potential clients or business related people.  Simply put, a business card is your first impression and foot in the door to a potential client.

So if your business cards are poorly made or feels cheaply made, this will reflect on your image.  Although we were always told, not to judge a book by its cover, we always do.

How to make an impression with your business card?

Having a well made and designed business card will certainly help you promote your business.

Keep it simple, concise, and straight to the point.  I've seen so many business cards piled with information, companies they've registered and a bajillion phone numbers to contact.

Yes, I understand these people want to impress others, but that information is too overwhelming.

Most of the time, this screams I'm trying too hard.  And in this modern age, most people don't have the attention span to look at all that stuff unless you're already famous.

Keep it simple and easy to remember.  You aren't the only business contact your client will come across.

And since you aren't the only person passing out your business card, make your cards standout somehow.

Digital business card trends

The digital world has swept us away.  We all know the story about bookstores.  Business cards have slowly become a "traditional piece" that is fading away.

Digital business cards vs. Traditional Business cards

I'm sure most of us can agree that it's so much easier to scan someone's information or store it on our iPhones.  Plus, we have plentiful storage to keep thousands, maybe even millions of contacts into our little devices.

Digital business cards and storage gives us the convenience.  But traditional business cards provide memorability.

Traditional cards allow us an extra chance to stand out and be remembered.  Digital business cards win by convenience, but if you're piled in with the other thousand contacts.  How charming will you have to be to your customer for him to remember you?

    What does this mean?

It means having both options is good! It really comes down to what type of person you are.  If you are super charming like Will Smith and can present a great idea like Steve Jobs, then go digital because you are memorable and impressionable to others.  People will want to keep your information and seek you for further advice/ideas/service/product whatever the matter be.

But if you are like the other 99% or even 80% of the population.  Having an extra tool to give you a bit of advantage won't hurt.

We can do business with emails, skype, phone calls easily.  Yet, we still find time to arrange and meet face to face because that's how you leave an impression.

Remember, choose the business card that is best for you and the company you work for.
